  1. May you all have a safe and enjoyable Christmas and Holiday season. Merry Christmas.
  2. Congrats WCSG! You've built a great board here and I gotta thank you for it it's been a blast.
  3. Happy Birthday and many happy more, Hope you get a nice big and really expensive present.
  4. By the way, not sure if it's me or not, but the music seems to be broken. It only plays the first measure over and over again for me. Using firefox. any idea?
  5. Actually I preffered the music that was there last week. As for the picture, works for me. Much better then looking at pictures of cars or plain signs. :)
  6. Actually they were the first sign related forum I joined. They are an good group of people overall, but they are a bit on the tame side. They don't like conflict, and can be moderated pretty heavily. I'll stick over here. At least I can say Ass without getting my peepee spanked.
  7. Gotta say, I live in Florida the Hurricane Magnet, and I hate to say it, but my god the people there are morons and whiney biatches. Actually thats way to harsh, I should say the people the news channels shown on tv are morons and whiney biatches. Down here last year we went 10 days w/o power and 7 days w/o water, but we were prepared ahead of time so it was nothing more then uncomfortable. It's a simple matter of most of the people there didn't think of the future and stayed. The line of BS about the only people who stayed were the people who were to poor to leave is total crap. When a Hurricane is on it's way they open shelters for those who can't afford hotels, ect. Those shelters usually are not near the ocean. Gah... This is way to hot of a topic for me at the bit, I'd better just shut up now.
  8. Didn't you know WC? It's Americas duty to give money and aid to other countries and every other countries duty to say "bite me" to America. (With a few exceptions... very few)
  9. Here is the wacky thing about freedom of speech. 1. It was designed to protect political/regligous speech. Note that all speech is not protected, your right to freedom of speech ends when you begin to advocate to harm others, when you use obscene speech as designated by the public, or when you advocate the violent overthrow of the government. (there are other reasons i'm sure but I'm not fully awake so will leave it at this). 2. A sign (if it were political in nature) would be protected and "should" not be governed, unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your view) most signs are not considered speech but are thought of as well for lack of a better term construction and or property. 3. One rule for one group and another for another has nothing to do with freedom of speech, it has to do with discrimination. In the case sited above the city has granted leeway to major business's in an attempt to increase cash flow for the town treasury. (Faulty thinking I know, but what can you do) Your clients speech is not being infringed on by the fact that Mc'D's can have a larger sign then he can, however his rights as a property owner are. Yes it's hypocritical, but that is where it then becomes the citizen's job to change his/her representatives to ensure that all are treated fairly and equally.` hehe, as for the stealth tax, once again we the citizens have let it happen because we do not pay enough attention to what the gvmt. does. Gvmt when left alone will slowly attempt to reduce your rights and increase it's power through taxes, laws, and other means. It is the nature of government to try to become more powerful. It is the duty of the citizen to make sure the government does not become to powerful. It's a constant game played between all governments and the people governed.
  10. Next year........ ISA International Sign Expo 2006 April 5, 2006 - April 8, 2006 Orlando, Florida Hmmm Only about an 1.5 hours away from me, Think I'll go.
  11. Hey again. Ok, Some background, I make engraved signs, thats it, Thats all I've done for a while now. Well, I recently changed boss's and the new boss wants me to also handle all our vinyl door signs and numbering of vehicles. (Mostly hours of operation and notices, no real graphics, plus not to many maybe a total of a few signs every week or two). So, I have to get a cutter. Here is my question, We have signwarehouse as an authorized vendor, I see the various cutters that they offer and do you think I would be safe going for the low end cutter (the cougar) since I'll be doing so few signs? or should I upgrade to the Bobcat or Lynx. Any advice here would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  12. Euch... Letterheads... I'm starting to devolope a sincere dislike for those snobby cliqish anal retentive eliteist geezers. As far as I'm concerned they can take their site and kiss my God the moron still hasn't got it through his head that California and Colorodo are 2 different states.

  16. Damn you all and your fun Western Seaboard sign shows!!! Looks like another few months of moping around down here.... Ok, I'm over it. Have fun guys and gals! ! ! Tell us of anything you "just can't live without" that they have on sale. Later Charles
  17. Tried the Engraver and it chipped like you wouldn't believe. I've had the Plex for a few years, sounds like age is probably my problem. I'll buy a new shipment. . Appreciate the help everyone. I'm making an award stand. They saw an older one I had done and wanted something like it. I use the plexi and cut it into the shape of a badge (Police) (I didn't do this last time my mentor Jack cut the badge out of plexi at home after I had cut the brass out at work so I never got to see how he made it.) Then attach a brass message to it. The stand is also made of Plexi so it has a kind of floating quality to it. I'll take a pick of the old one and send it.
  18. Not sure exactly where to put this.. sorry if it is in the wrong forum. Can someone give me some advice on cutting 1/8 thick Plexi? I've tried my band saw, my router, exactoknife, and a jigsaw, and the darn stuff always cracks whenever I try to do anything intricate..Heck I even tried sanding only (God what a stupid idea that was I gave up after an hour and only removing a few inches of plexi. Any Advice would be appreciated. Charles.
  19. He's adorable. Gotta say I love labs and lab mix's. I've got a little white lab husky mix myself and she's the baby of the house. Enjoy and have fun with the new pup, Just remember spoiling a pet is a duty, not a option... Todays quotes from "The Big Damn Book of Sheer Manliness" A Tribute to the Dog. The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proveds ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. he will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in the encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. Wehn all other friends desert he remains. When riches take wing and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens. Senator George Vest, 1870 Quote 2. What Guys Know About Life... Life is to short. Start counting your blessings right now, because every dawn on this greatest of all possible worlds is a gift. Life is particularly too short for dogs. If there was ever a clear error made by God, evolution or whatever you choose to call the great determinant, it was the life span of dogs. There's just no logical reason for dogs living as short as they do. The promise of genetic engineering could rectify this problem in a few years---let's get on it. Man's best friend? In a heartbeat. Have a great day! Charles.
  20. My favorite "Grilling recipe" from the "Big Damn Book of Sheer Manliness" by the Hoffman Brothers. Macon's Politically Incorrect Salt Steak. Ingredients: 1 Large Sirloin Steak 1 1/2 - 2 inches thick 6 sheets of newspaper 1 large bowl of kosher rock salt 2 jars of lawry's lemon peper 1 jar of whole pepper corns 1 bottle of worcestershire sauce 1 jar of grey poupon mustard 1 roll of masking tape 10 lb bag of charcoal 1 giant bucket of water. Start... Drink a adult beverage and Lay your fire 6 inches thick at minimum. (make sure the grill is off) Replinish beverage and mix spices.. (salt, pepper corns, leomon pepper) in a big bowl. Law the 6 sheets of newspaper open and plunk the steak down in the middle of it. Open the jar of mustard and slather 1 side of the meat with 1/4th and inch layer of mustard. (Make sure people watch you prepare this for best effect). Now grab several handfulls of spices and plaster it into the mustard. Enough spice that no mustard gets on your hand when tapping it, then dump worcestershire on it to color the whole thing brown. Carefully turn the steak over and repeat process on opposite side. When done wrap it up in the paper, secure it with the masking tape (use as little tape as possible) once secure dump the package into the bucket of water.Replinish drink. Let it soak until your fire is fully engaged... (almost hot enough to melt the grill) Then take out the package, squeeze out the excess water and throw directly onto the coals. (Pray to the charcoal gods that your fire does not go out from this). Allow about 10 minutes per side (the paper should be smoldering and close to catching fire). Rescue the package from the fire and using your now empty water bucket scrape the paper mustard and spices off the meat. Your steak should looks sickly white. Put the grill back on above the coals and brown the steak for 3 to 5 minutes per side until it looks like beef again. Slice into 1/4 an inch strips and serve. The steam from the newspaper will marinate the meat with the flavor of the spices and mustard while leaving the original juices in the meat as well. Enjoy and remember not to overcook your meat or else it turns into jerky.
