  1. It seems to me too that neon has stood the test of time. It is the tone put forth that it is a thing of the past. Neon is relevant in the sign industry today. I agree that neons past is nastalgic. But their is a future. 3 Restaurant chains just opened here in the last 4 months all having exposed neon pole signs & building neon. I know that Chris did not mention LED's in his article but if you google his name he has lent many praises to LED's. It just makes me think that you can only build your product up so much. Now you have to make neon look like a thing of the past. I guess I'm just tired of hearing neon sucks/ LED's great. Brad Neonshopinc.com
  2. Since I have been in the trade I have looked to the trade magazines to help me learn whats going on in the industry. I just finished reading Signing OFF by Chris Ytuarte in the back if SBI. The article ask the question " Between museums, auctions, and novelty tours, is neon now just a part of history." After making a 1 paragraph point about what carbon - 14 dating is, he brings it home." Which brings me to my point: Neon is the new Carbon - 14." I would expect more from the associate editor of this magazine than to preface the article about neons past translating into a healthy future on page 4 and saying it is no longer a indicator of comerce, as much as it is an indicator of nearly forgotten times and era's. on page 84. I have had my own neon shop since 2002 & have enjoyed growth every year. I just kills me to see how the money that drives these publications can also try to dry out a particular nitch. This is a trade that requires skill & commitment & a need to be self motivated something I guess you don't need to screw a LED into a letter. Brad Theneonshopinc.com
