  1. Sorry to hear that Gary. I'm sure a man with your experience and knowledge won't be looking long. Ps. I've got a hell of a nice neon shop that I'll sell ya. : )
  2. Excellant video Excellart. Love the music too. Great job Matt !
  3. Yep, now the sign service guys can be eliminated from the equation altogether. Might as well post a DIY video on YouTube too. Another step in the wrong direction for the sign industry. And do you think it is bad form for us to have a YouTube video that has over 25,000 views that generates new customers all the time? I just think the times have changed and it is time for people to realize "things aren't the way the use to be" If the videos are "how to" sign component retrofit oriented and offered up for "anyone " to purchase at wholesale prices than hell yeah it's bad form , especially if you want to keep a loyal customer base from people earning a living in the sign industry. If your just marketing your "end of the world" survival kits than I say have at it.

  5. No way ! You're a Patriots fan ? do your neighbors know ? : ) I'm not a Giants fan but I will make a friendly wager with you . How about loser picks up the tab at Bahama Breeze next month ?
  6. That is unfortunate Gerald . Maybe Sean knows a quality guy up there in your area. Every market place and industry (neon and led included) has its low quality shit manufacturers to contend with. It's too bad your experience with neon has been with what I expect is the part time hack that works for beer.
  7. "no fickle neon bender to deal with" Really ? That's a new one . If you really "hate to see the neon industry suffer" you wouldn't make bogus BS statements like that one . Keep it simple and stick to the standard "green" marketing BS . : )
  8. That is some very impressive craftsmanship Steve .Great job !
  9. Seems ironic that these association members would react so defensively . How long have you been asking for someone/anyone in a leadership position to question the validity of the green marketing BS ? There's just too many creative ways to cash in on the "green scheme" to muck up the water with facts. If any group should be frustrated and upset with the situation it's the sign component manufacturers that have been hung out to dry by the lack of support and failure of industry leadership to act on there behalf.
  10. I will pop in at some point during the show. Hope I get a chance to meet you guys there.
  11. The ISA is "comitted to the best interest our industry" ? There has to be stronger leadership and action behind those words for them to mean a thing . The ISA 's failure to take on the real issues in the industry is what fuels the growing interest in this site. IMO Thanks Erik for doing what the ISA won't . LEAD !
  12. Have you tried ebay? Sad to see a nice neon plant go to waste. I hope the sign industry hasn't completely squashed the interest of the next generation from pursuing a career in the trade.
  13. Those trucks look awesome ! Congrats Just curious, Who does your neon over there in Rockledge . If you need a source in the Orlando area we'd be glad to help 407-209-7091 Randy
  14. Unbelievable, He still doesn't get it Wade's post looks like something I would expect to read on a 16 year old girl's face book page who's Daddy just bought a new car. "you're just jealous" LOL That mission statement made me chuckle too. I love comedy :) Well written response Erik. Love to see post # 7 if you get it.
  15. Thanks for the input guys I have a lens here just to practice on so I am trying a few different methods. I tried the kitco cutter .It worked ok but left a few little spider cracks in the cut . I made a homemade cutter last night that works sort of like a conduit cutter to lightly score the glass all the way around then I very lightly heat the glass and apply a cold rag to it . Really seems to work well . I've made 3 perfect cuts so far without the hairline cracks. Going to try a wet saw later today for the cuts along the length of the lens .
  16. A hotel here in town has approximately 300 of these glass lenses for lighting fixtures that need to be cut in half. The glass tubing is oval , 3" x 4" with a wall thickness of about 3/32" . I wanted to see if any of you have experience doing this before I begin experimenting.
  17. Happy Birthday Sean . Have a great weekend
  18. Yep, Our leaders in Washington are suckers for a slick sales pitch and a nice "campaign contribution" er kickback. When did our government become a near sighted referee making bad calls at the most critical time ? Never seen anything as mismanaged as our country is right now.
  19. Nice Gary ! Looks very well maintained too. Do you still manufacture your neon in house ?
  20. Tough way to have a birthday. My condolences to you and your wife for your loss. He is a member of the greatest generation of men our country has known. Sad to see them go .
  21. Take the day off and make it a nice long 3 day weekend.
  22. same political speech.. the ideas that were talked about tonight have been on the table for months now. and that is most likely as far as they will go for now. the best part is the guy that was sitting with the presidents wife out sources 80% of his company work load and is sitting on five billion in cash over seas so he dose not have to pay capital gains taxes on it. and he is appointed as a adviser to help jump start the USA. go figure.. Mike NSW Exactly... GE's CEO sitting in on a jobs creation speech is laughable. He's the leader of a company who shut down 15 light manufacturing factories in Ohio alone to outsource to China. Seems ironic that GE would choose to outsource most of their "green" energy efficient Light manufacturing operations to a country that is the biggest enviro offender. Barack has chosen to take job creation advice from a man that puts corporate profitability before all else ? What a joke
  23. Westrim is discontinuing theirs? Yep My supplier told me they were looking for another source but I haven't heard anything since. I spent over 100 dollars this week for expedited freight charges to get ruby red and 3500 white to my shop. These products are now considered order as needed items by my local suppliers. Too busy pimping the latest LED lines I guess. Clients like Disney and Universal don't want to here lame excuses as to why I can't have their material here for three weeks while my supplier tries to fill their minimum stock orders.
