  1. I'm sure that a city as large as LA still has a pretty large need for a good neon source. The neon repair work alone should keep a tube bender pretty busy and make it worth the investment provided you have the training and experience needed to set up and use the equiptment. I think a good starting offer would be $5000 and i probably would'nt go over $7500
  2. Yeah, the info is good but Manuel seems to dismiss the DOE caliper report findings as nothing more than propoganda. Seems ironic he should feel this way as the "movements and trends" this "brilliant" salesman champions are the very same type of propoganda. Can't wait to here the next world problem these amazing LED's are going to solve
  3. Maybe the NZ farmers could saddle their cows with gas tanks like this guy did
  4. Haven't read it but they did a similar article for the SOT a couple of months ago making the same far fetched claims. They can't prove their claims though and hide behind the excuse that it's proprietary information . I guess they must know something that no one else in the sign industry knows
  5. Wow , I think you touched a nerve John. How dare you challenge his inflated numbers. Don't you know that everyone on this board is suppose to accept Manuels BS without question or face public humiliation by an Axiom NZ beat down. f-ing rediculous
  6. I had these pictures emailed to me today by an electrical maintenance company that needed help trouble shooting the neon issues on this Sonny's Barbeque restaurant. It's unbelievable, where do you begin ? . My advice was to walk away. Unfortunately I see quite a bit of this kind a s?#$ down here in Florida too. The semi-pro, phantom sign hacks that do this type of work seem to thrive in a bad economy. I think a good amount of the blame has to fall on store owners(end users) who are to cheap to pay a legit, licensed sign company to do their work.
  7. "appear green" is exactly right. The green marketing angle is the only reason of the 9 listed that actually gets people to pull the trigger on these retrofits for 95% of cases.
  8. #4 from Orlando Best site for solid no bs info
  9. Thanks Sean Absolutely, If you have any other questions or need a source for quality neon you can shoot me an email southatlantic1@bellsouth.net
  10. Hey Arryn, 15mm is generally the standard for border units.
  11. Ha. It's too bad I would never get elected due to my (lack of) religious beliefs. You've got people pegged pretty well, though ;) No, that's part of the new foreign policy. Easier to be more objective if there is no influence of ones own particular religion. We can work thru those issues. I'll get with the new Pres - have a few closed door meetings - and get back to you. Does the President need a intern ?
  12. Our country desperately needs business savvy leadership. Our current course of pandering to the environmentalists has handicapped us to the point of financial ruin. Trump for President kdg
  13. The only thing you can do is exactly what you are doing. Keep drawing attention to the problem. At some point the sign industries trade mags are going to have to start fact checking before printing if they want to be viewed as a credible and useful source of information. Hopefully the negative attention will force companies like Harbinger and others to think twice before writing this BS. Props to the SS
  14. Malte, Your post reminded me of this picture a friend emailed me last week. I think this guy may have some insecurity issues
  15. OOOPS ! Maybe its a school of gynecology
  16. Hope you get to kick back a few brews in your boat today
  17. I was with you all the way up to the part about the naked P.E.T.A chicks. For some reason I am getting a disturbing vision of Rosie O'donnell standing naked on a street corner. Not sure any of us could tolerate that
  18. Are you taking your ball and going home ? I don't understand why you are so hell bent on snuffing out neon. Can you not concede that there are applications where neon is just a better choice or is it an all or nothing thing for you ? Not sure I understand your view of ccfl's being different from neon , its just smaller in diameter. By the way 20mm lamps in channel letters is very doable and would most likely outlast the sign itself.
  19. Hope you have a great birthday weekend Eric ! Are the Chargers playing at home this weekend ?
  20. It's not hard to fool the naive end user with this BS . I dought very much if you can convince any of the seasoned sign vets on this board that the reason you can't prove your claims is because its "proprietary information" . Maybe real math and the laws of physics dont apply in Jacksonville. If the SOT wants to be seen as a viable tool for the sign industry and not just a advertising rag they need to hire respected personell to validate some of these rediculous claims.
  21. These trade mags of the sign industry should be classified in the sci-fi genre. Maybe they should change the name of the SOT to "Signs Fiction" They might as well start printing articles on warping the fabric of space and time or the latest design in light sabre manufacturing. That's about how useful the s#@% they print is.
  22. I thought the question was "Would you take the job?". My point was that if they had the legal right (which you concede they do) - regardless of how suitable, appropriate, right, wrong or completely misguided - I'd take their project just like I have from any other church, synagogue or temple. I have walked away or refused jobs on principle - but never on religion. Making one here would only prove the zealots right. Marko, I am pretty sure that if one of your family members had died in the WTC your opinion would be different. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who did lose a loved one for a moment, I think its easy to see what a slap in the face this would be. My position on this subject has more to do with compassion than religion. There are efforts being made to find a suitable place for the Mosque at a different location. If the muslim leadership is unwilling to relent on their pursuit to build near the WTC site then I think most Americans will feel that there is a hidden agenda To answer the question " No , I would not take this job "
