?? I used to love it when they didn't want to pick up their beer signs --- I had half their money up front, and now the sign to sell. I can't count how many/how much I made off selling old beer signs. As for sign companies being bad -------all I did was wholesale neon---and the rules were the same big company or little company----check upon pickup. I had one company that actually paid in advance, and one company that was totally superb at paying everything due on the 30th. Check in my hands by the 4th, latest. Every month like clockwork. Everyone else --- check please. But --------- those were the old days of doing neon. gn

I know pics can be deceiving - but seeing the lamp in the background - the sign can't be that big,especially given the guy wires that are holding it up. $80K for re-doing it?? The reason you couldn't sign up ----- you couldn't spell "Tucson" correctly!! Impressive neon plant isn't it?? They were the ONLY company I ever did neon for that actually sent qualified people to my shop to see my operation, check my procedures, and ascertain that I was good enough to do their work. Impressed me to no end!! I'm curious how the old fart is that set up, and ran their neon shop for years!! Another great old timer. gn

For about a year now---actually about 1.5 years now.

That's an easy question---------he didn't get paid, like in a pervious post, and is taking his trannies back ---------OR----------the guy sold a sign somewhere, couldn't afford his own transformers, and couldn't get paid until the sign was lit. And truth be told----he was probably NOT stealing them--when in fact he was just borrowing them so he could finish his sign, intent to return in about 90 days. gn

"old timers"??? How rude. Just wait, your time is coming. I PM'd him to contact Len Davison---who seems to have the most pics and books of old neon signs of anyone-------but then again, he's another "old timer" who's memory is probably failing, and might now remember if his pic is of the correct rocket or not. Personally, I'd try and check the archives of the local paper------------surely some "old time" newspaper photo journalist snapped some pics that they'd still have. Most of those old signs had either housing holes, or just big holes for the gto to be suspended in the centers. If that's the case, you can use those to figure out the neon. And back in the heyday of signs---a rocket wasn't so unusual. There used to be comets, flying saucers on poles, etc, animated monkeys, Indian chiefs in full headdress, ladies diving into a pool, etc, etc. Course---that was artful neon, and now we get-------------led's. gn
