Damn, I'm glad that others can miss spell the word artist also!! Along with the meaning of it. I alwyas considered the difference was that an arteest couldn't follow a design or pattern, and allowed for the difference as being his "interpretation". gn

Man, I always knew I used to be an arteeeeest. Now I know for sure. Loved the "This series is not representational but experiential," statement. Experiential??? Damn, ever hear a graphics person try and tell you the symbolism behind a squiggle on a sign, or a dash between letters---the interpretation, and all the garbage, with the tilde over the a to get the right pronunciation, to go with the description. And then to salvage the rare earth phosphors out of tubes. Cripes----they are available to buy, rather than salvage. I wonder what he uses for the binder if he salvages???? Damn, missed my calling. Should have started off calling myself an arteest. gn
  3. [Well, maybe you can use it tomorrow, or the next day. And if you feel really guilty about it-----give the money back to your boss !!! THat way he'll think you're a really stand up sort of guy, a great employee, one who looks out for the boss' benefits and pocket book !!!! Tell him you had an emotional lift after running into that 480v !!!! gn
  4. If you're going to lynch first---why bother with the stones??? gn
  5. Well, tops on my list would be a great island for scuba diving. Then a nice quiet beach after dark with my love for some beach diving. gn
  6. Now, being perfectly honest----how many others were drawn to this thread only be to disappointed with a picture of a wire "stripper". gn
  7. Thank you guys. I know, based on my old sign experience, that we do that stuff all the time----just didn't know how with either Corel or Adobe. I've got both at home, I'll try and see if I can "git 'er done". Thanks again. gn
  8. Making the background transparent is one way---could you explain how??? But what I'm really after would be similar to the effect of just putting on a letter. IF WE WERE to just add letter---we could butt it up against, or over another object, having no background to deal with that might cover up or have to be moved back a layer. Lousy explanation I know. gn
  9. Haven't tried a new topic before---so here goes. Need a bit of help. Trying to scan an image, say a signature, and be able to use that without the white box that seems to come with it. I know that with my old sign making software it could be done. But anyone have a way using Corel or Adobe???? Same scenario----have a jpeg with a black design on it, and need to get rid of the white box around it so it can be used for a lightscribed dvd. Any suggestions, or help, much appreciated. Gary
  10. If LIghtwriter is Jacob Fishman-------------------Chicago is not west of the Mississippi. But its close. gn
  11. NO----a Alad ladder is NOT the same as a A ladder. I've worked on my share of wood ladders----swore that when I bought my own ladeers they would NOT be wood. Never had one of my own----regardless of OSHA. Anyway-----if I get a chance and get home early, I'll see if theoriginal stamp is on my ladders with the official address, etc. An Alad ladder, is either magnesium, or aircraft aluminum, is an extension ladder, has swivel feet, has about a 3.5 or 4 ft wide base, mine have 8" padded standoffs at the top------great for leaning against signs. I have two of them, a 24' and a 36'. gn
  12. You outa know that ladders and lawsuits are synonyms! My Alad ladders, and my Little Giant ladders were and still are my best buddies. Don't do signwork anymore------------still won't see my ladders! Other synonyms----------lawyers=crooks, doctors=idiots, zocor=BAD news, Merck=Bad news gn
  13. You referring to Alad Ladders??? Wide base, extension, made of magnesium??? Great ladders----but of course OSHA doesn't like them. Think they merged with another company and became Alaco. gn
  14. Just found the pic of this sign. Looks great------------but, wondering how you went about wiring it. What kind of tranny did you use, where is it mounted, how, nad the means of getting the leads down to the sign??? Again--------curious. gn
  15. Damn---some one cut the video short!!! gn
  16. Not just takedowns. I get a kick out of the shops that do alot of aluminum cutting and don't save the scrap----even the aluminum flakes that fill the table after cutting. Keep all the clean stuff with the aluminum scrap----lots of extra bucks and little time spent. gn
  17. Besides the first line---I really liked this paragraph--- "students carefully twist them back and forth as they break down over the heat. The student must work quickly to make just the right bend in the glass that emulsifies like maple syrup, which can drip at any moment if it gets too hot." Drip at any moment???? Twist back and forth??? Great descriptions. gn
  18. I'd never trade my Hilti drills - probably more expensive--but they've drilled 1000's of holes. Gary Nutting
  19. For everyone's information---just because a number is in the phone book does not make it fair game for telemarketers-----nor does an unlisted number save you from telemarketers. By going to the www.donotcall.gov website, you can place about 5 numbers at a time. These can be home or cell-----BUT telemarketers have to confirm their numbers they call every month------so it'll take about a month, possible 2 to stop the calls from telemarketers. This does not apply to churches, non-profit org, etc, nor companies you have already had dealings with where they have a business relationship withyou. If you get calls from a telemarketer after you have put your name on the DNC list-----they are liable for a fine in the amount of $11,000 per violation. Gary Nutting
