  1. I think, if they are representing an entire industry, they need to look good. When they have people in and want to get their attention on important matters to the sign industry, they need to look good. If they were in a strip center and had junk junk equipment, that would give the impression that they were not really doing very well at representing a large industry. We live in a world that "Impression Is Everything", like it or not.
  2. I don't see that being possible. I build a lot of channel letters and take great care and time finding the best pricing on materials. "STARBUCKS COFFEE" Thats 15 letters. Comes to $26.66 per letter on a raceway. I can't buy the materials for that - plex for faces, aluminum for the backs, trim cap, return metal, raceway material, led's or neon, transformer or power supply, switch, wire, screws and vinyl for the faces. If someone is doing it for $400.00 I would like to go to their shop and take lessons!!
  3. Numeritex is one. I don't care for their message centers but their Time and Temps are ok. BTW, are you staying dry??
  4. Sorry Eric, but the chargers ran out of gas. Maybe next year. "Hope Springs Eternal."
  5. I have someone I use occasionaly and I'm sure others do. Might be a good idea to try and do some freelance and maybe one of those will develope into something more permanent.
  6. I hear Las Vegas is a great honeymoon destinatioan!! :)
  7. A neon guy told me LED's caused IMPOTENCE.
  8. Between "neon gas" and my cell phone, I don't stand a chance.
  9. Best of luck. This will change your life, in a good way.
  10. Sorry but I disagree Marko, our use of cool white to daylight is prob a 80/20 ratio Have to agree on the cool white. We keeps lots of cw and very few dl.
  11. Is all that neon jumped to one tranny??
  12. Business is up. Is it a sign of things to come?

  13. I can't help with Multi Cam but I have an AXYZ that has worked without issue since 2003. The only advise I would have is "get the biggest table you can afford". Seems like you always need to cut something bigger.
  14. The estimator is an important position and if you are at good volume shop you could make 15.00 to 25.00 an hour. It's very hard to put a hard number on it because of geographic location ect... If you are a good estimator and make money for your employer, don't under price and don't over price (don't leave money on the table but get the job) I would say you are a valuable asset. Good sign estimators are hard to find. Getting to a point where you price jobs right everytime is hard to do. A company with 2.5 mil in sales won't pay an estimator as much as a 20 mil company. In a 2.5 mil company you probably wear more than one hat. At 2.5 mil you probably have 15 employees +/- (according to what your product mix is) so everyone has to help everyone else. Probably didn't help you much! Good luck.
  15. What's your experience and what type and volume company do you work for?
  16. I'm no electrical engineer but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night and 12 volts dc is 12 volts dc. As long as you size them correctly, they'll never know the difference.................
  17. I have an AXYZ 5 x 10 ft. 10 HP HSD spindle with vac hold down. Had it for 6 years and no problems. I don't have an auto tool changer and don't really miss it since I just cut flat materials for signage. I would reccomend the vac. hold down though. If you have a limited budget, I would go with less router and get the vaccum hold down. You get better material yeild, you can cut faster and cleaner and it's just a lot easier. Get a mister attachment if you plan to cut a lot of aluminum. You get much better cuts (smoother edges) and the bits last a lot longer. At $30.00 each, that means something.
  18. I worked for someone who did this once. They took 15% of the invoice. The account goes from your customer to them. So the customer knows whats up. Plus, if your customer is late, they will call and want the money immediatly. Possibly ruining that relationship. You have to have a signed contract and a signed invoice from the customer stating the work is complete and that they are staisfied. And, I don't think they pay on past invoices. Only from the time you sign the contract with them. It was not good for him. I would suggest takling the invoices to you bank and getting an accounts receivable loan, if that is an option.
  19. "Show me yours and I'll show you mine". I got in big trouble when I was 6 ears old for playing this game.
  20. Nice building. Looks well kept as well.
