  1. Sounds like they got the sign permit but didn't get the electrical permit. Here in KY we have a city, (Georgetown) that requires both sign and elec. permits. With the elec. permit you have to have the inspector to meet you at the job site and he looks at the sign to insure it is UL or otherwise listed. He also check to make sure it is built to code and then he puts a sticker on it. Then you install it. If you install it first, it has to come off the wall to be inspected. NO, he won't go 10 ft in the air on a ladder or bucket. ASK ME HOW I KNOW THIS!
  2. Brian, please don't sugar coat it, tell us what you really think!
  3. You are so correct about the crazy people on both sides. The people are losing control here in the US. I have no faith in either political party.
  4. Marko, I too love Maiden. A little Judas Priest thrown in for good measure and I'm good for a road trip. Then I'll change the channel and listen to Keith Urban, Brooks and Dunn ect... Weird Huh??
  5. I had a request from am engineer to use an led from a company called "I N Led's" on a sign project. He can't produce a phone number and I don't see anything when doing a Google search. Any ideas??
  6. Try Everbrite. I did some DD installs for them a couple years ago. 414-529-3500. I'm sure they still have the account. Don't know if they have the whole US or not. That's a starting point
  7. Sign managers has been running ads in the trade mags, (can't remember which one and too lazy to look) for some time looking for someone to partner with in the US. Guess they found em. Guess they held out for the RIGHT people.
  8. Thanks for reply. I do understand how the listing system works. Many people think UL is a way of doing something or a law, not just an agency that is one among several. I have one particular location or city in mind that I would like to show up to with MET label on. A video camera would be fun also. It would be a head scratching event.
  9. Has anyone had any problems with local inspectors? Many city ordinances require signs to be UL Listed. Do the inspectors know the difference?
  10. I've done work for them in the past. Good co. to work with.
  11. As far as I know they haven't had any major changes untill recently. They have had some new stuff come out this year. Like everyone else they will phase out the old after a while. I don't know who else has used them or what they think about them but I like them. I've never have problems and that's big to me since I sell (whosale) to other shops for the most part. I'm sure other stuff is just as good for the most part. I've tried some others just to test and was pleasently surprised by most of them. A couple I just could'nt convince myself to install them and take a chance. I just haven't seen a big reason to switch when US LED has been so reliable. I've got an extra office, I think I'll start manufacturing my own. Ha Ha !!
  12. I'd like to help but all I have are USLED.
  13. The reason I asked is they seem way out of line from I am used to paying.
  14. Are the prices on there web site the actual price you pay or do they discount that?
  15. Talk to your suppliers. I have found that people will reduce prices to keep your business, if you are a good customer. I have one particular supplier that I spend a lot of money with. I told them of the prices I had seen elswhere and told them of the situation out in the sign world with bids being tighter than ever. They came back with some nice pricing. I talked to my people and asked that we re-double our efforts to maximize our raw goods such as aluminum, plex, vinyl ect... When we do designs we look closely at how it will be built before we present it to the customer if we feel is that price sensitive our is getting many bids. Sometimes you can save a lot without giving up a lot if the designer knows fabrication. I keep a closer eye on my scrap.
  16. Welcome, and do yoiu have any discounts for board members. Hey! It doesn't hurt to ask does it?
  17. So that's why ASI called me trying to sell me a membership.
  18. Anybody going to be there?? I think I will. It's about 90 minutes from me. Love to have one of those press brakes.
  19. If you have time, file a lein on the property or property owner.
  20. I am sure that 95% of the people there were honest people. And, I am sure that the % of people who would "lie" for their employer on a daily basis is probably no more - no less that any other co. But, I won't lie and tell you that don't have a bad taste in my mouth foor Image Point, cause I do. I finally had to call them and tell them to remove our Co. from their vendor list and not to call me for future work, as well as writing off the remainder of the AR from them. It was just too much haslte to collect. This was 2 years ago when things were booming. And we did major projects, we did Mc Donalds drive thru conversions and sign packages, new Chevy dealers ect... Had to move on and focus on work we could be paid for somewhat timely. I was used to 60 - 90 days from National account companies. EverBrite also does Mc Donalds and we were paid in 45 days from completion, always. That may not seem like a huge deal to some. But, it takes time and effort to do all this and to have the doubt about being paid, just to give someone else better terms. I feel bad for the employees there and would hire them myself probably, given their skill sets, if I could. Am I surprised they were one of the first to go? No Do I think this is all economy related? no! When times are good, build bridges, don't burn them.
