  1. We had a lighting storm like that one, Marko. Several years ago, but my hubby called it "wrath of God stuff". There wasn't a 5 minute period where the sky wasn't lit up. That's the first time I ever heard the lighting (the actual bolt itself). Wild weather!
  2. Probably someone removed the letters - yet left the transf and the gto stuffed in the attic live. That'll do it. Using the building as a band practice place - doubt it had working neon signs on the wall. gn We were asked to quote a sign removal several years ago for a commercial building that was being renovated.... our bid was too high so they had - someone (never found out who)take down the sign. They did exactly what you said, Gary, and caught the bldg on fire. Fortunately it was caught quickly (fire dept is only 1 minute down the road)and the damage was rapidly repaired.
  3. I'm gonna start mattress stuffing instead of 401k-ing. This whole situation makes me sick.
  4. We've used Gemini letters for years - great customer service and the orders arrive when they say they will!
  5. Hmmm.... makes our 60 something degrees not seem so bad now!
  6. I don't think it's any particular outfit - we've been doing local Goodwills for several years. Drop by and give 'em your card!
  7. Well, we have an Epson Pro 4000, it's about 8 years old and finally beginning to wear out (print head needs replacing). Considering how much we use it, we are thinking about just replacing the whole thing. I was looking for any input on the type of printers you use - the Epson has been a real workhorse, but .... http://www.thesignsyndicate.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/scratchhead.gif Thanks in advance!
  8. My prayers are with all those people also. Makes my weather here not worth complaining about!
  9. Sorry, it's been running fine for me. You might want to make sure you clear your browser cache files and delete any old links to it - that may help.
  10. I did not see the original, but i must say I started giggling at "I don't care" - I thought it was quite funny! Nice job! I think we all have a "Janet" customer.
  11. We just use Peachtree - the templates can be customized. I send you one - hope it helps!
  12. We've done quite a bit of service for them recently, and they pay in about 48 days, so no problems there. The reps I've worked with have been very nice.
  13. I like "Integrity" because it encompasses the "quality... price.... service" aspects of our business. Integrity is why we have repeat customers that don't even ask for a price for new jobs because they know we'll do a good job at a fair price.
  14. We were sent this as a link - it's from DNJ.Com http://www.dnj.com/article/20110113/NEWS01/110113013 A sign worker attempting to take down a Kroger sign was severely injured in a freak accident Thursday afternoon. The Jarvis Sign worker, whose name hasn’t been released, was using a cutting torch and a boom to remove bolts from the Kroger sign at Northfield Boulevard when one of the hot bolts fell and melted through a hydraulic hose on the boom, according to Murfreesboro Assistant Fire Chief Allen Swader. That caused pressurized hydraulic fluid to shoot out of the hose, according to Swader, and into the path of the worker’s torch, in turn setting the worker and the Kroger sign on fire. “The man was on fire and jumped out of the boom, injuring his legs and breaking his ankles in the process,” Swader said. “His back and lower body were severly burned.” The sign, which was almost completely burned, stands more than 20 feet high. The worker’s boom was approximately 18 feet in the air when he jumped out of it. A worker at a nearby dry cleaning business saw the event unfold and called 911, according to Swader. The owner of that dry cleaner, Jim Batcheler, told The DNJ the man was limping after he jumped and even asked how badly he had been burned. “He asked me if his back was burned up,” Batcheler said. “I told him it was, but it could have been a whole lot worse. His back was red and blistered but it wasn’t charred.” The man was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville via ambulance after being treated by emergency workers at the scene. — Mark Bell, 615-278-5153
  15. Has anyone here used (or heard of) Solidworks? It seems to be a graphical cad program, looks interesting but I only know of one sign company who uses it. We don't know the price yet, but will likely find that out next week. Anything anyone has heard would be appreciated!
  16. There is so much more useful info on this site, I recommend it all the time.http://www.thesignsyndicate.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/13.gif
  17. We had no power in last weeks storm from Monday evening thru Friday evening!

  18. It's only a matter of time before the greenies tell us what to eat/wear/drive/..... I have found that the CFL's I bought for my home are sooooooo sucky for lighting I have to turn on more lamps so I can see. And this statement from the article just kills me - "They acknowledge that the mercury in compact fluorescents is a problem, but note that it is not much, that it is constantly being reduced, that it is far less than is emitted by power plants, and that solid state lighting will soon replace it anyways." It really isn't much - in one bulb. That must be why we have to pay to have our fluorscents recycled by companies that can deal with the mercury inside them - and it's considered hazardous waste.
  19. I had a personal facebook account, dropped it when the privacy issues became public...
