How many of you can have a truck and crew on the road 24 hrs 7 Days a week at a moments call anytime, weekends, holidays etc. I mean on the road with a fully loaded ready to work truck. We started this service when I opened in 1984. It was easy with only a few customers. Today it's a full time part of the job. Thanksgiven Dinners and Christmas has always been interupted with calls. It has been very profitable and rewarding for my company. There is alot of work out there if you want it.

we dont advertise it as a service like you do, but my brother and I and one of our installers will go out on a moments notice for an emergency. We work 6-7 days a week anyways. Its happened a few times but nothing I could see being worth marketing. In what instances do you have customers who will be calling you at 1 am? Other then a sign falling down and needing to be removed or repaired for health and safety concerns?

We are in the middle of NYC. Hundreds of thousands of signs and customers. The biggest part is the signs falling when a storm comes. The bigger the winds, the more work there is. In one recent storm we had 4 trucks out and removed or repaired 19 signs in 9 hrs. We were able to pick and choose what we wanted to do. We got 12 new signs out of that storm. The holidays are even better. Stores can't open if there are issues with the signs and public safety. We did a sign repair for a major store that needed to be open for the Black Friday Sales. We finished within hrs of the opening. The money on my end was great and we now do all their service. Then there are the "have to have it up" customers who don't care what it takes or costs. Its a great part of our business, and very rewarding if you can handle it. Times square is a whole different story, there is no waiting. The show must go on.

I only do that for one of my big customers and the last rush call for a big job was when Gustav hit Baton Rouge and blew their sign down blocking the store's driveway. Thanks for reminding me of the nightmare of cutting this booby trap down in the pouring rain.
