  1. I know what it means. 3 letters used by teenage girls in their texting. What I missed was the comedic moment to actually LOL. Must have been a inside joke between you and the 5 or 6 people you make believe you are friends with on this site.
  2. I worked a 62' Manitex on a 750 ford for about 5 years. Loved both. The Manitex lets you do more than the Elliot's. Stamm is the place to go. You certainly don't need to be talking Elliot for $10,000, especially the 80 footer. There is a guy down the block with a '64 Ford utility bucket that is asking more than $10,000.
  3. Spoken like a man with money in his pocket. Give me a call, we'll get you hooked up pronto. By the way if installed by morons Neon or LED's are visible when the glowing monster goes by. Continuity of glow would also be a good consideration to keep in mind as long as cost is not an issue.
  4. Why would you put glass under your car instead of LED's.? Are you trying to do it the hard way?
  5. Customer looking for rubber indoor lettering that is kid safe. He has seen, touched and photographed these 3D style letters overseas and would like similar soft product made and installed here in the US. Apparently importing from overseas is not an option. Any info would be appreciated.
  6. Waiting for night pics. I'm trying to imagine what good the LED wall wash directly above the cabinet will do.
  7. Sounds like the guy with all the experience was crushed in the bucket while the 30 year old ....experienced 30 year old?........ was at the controls....wait a minute you wouldn't catch me in the bucket with a newbie at the controls. I've lost pay refusing to have a questionably experienced guy fly me around in a Skyhook bucket/attachment/contraption piece of shit since they want the know-how guy in the bucket. Don't worry he's operated that equipment that we hardly ever fix before, you'll be fine. Condolences to another sign man and his family.
  8. That's what I'm talking about. Keep on promoting that unbeatable neon appeal done right. Nice design. Backlighting on that brick might have been cool.
  9. Would have loved to have been there. Especially the early days of Vegas signage.
  10. This guy doesn't mean any harm, he just mindin his own binis. El Nasty.
  11. Government shutdown for a few days and look what's happening already. I'm guessing the citizens of metropolis aren't packing like in Florida or Texas. I don't know what was said to infuriate the bikers but I've had bikes stop in the Interstate so they can show us all what great wheelies they can pull. Dangerous. Stupid. Morons. Mind you I've had a number of bikes but never needed to be in a pack, gang, club or group so to feel accepted. Better yet, lets dare each other to see who can come up with the dumbest idea possible like the sacrificial lamb who slows down in front of the Rover. Lucky he wasn't the one to get run over.
  12. Imagine being a fly on the wall at the next meeting the ad execs will have, trying to work in the pitch that their car will get you out of any situation, like a biker mob, until you hit NYC traffic.
  13. Hey, all be damned that switch from neon to led's, but I'm curious as to who used to service that account and what if any difficulties, poor repairs or overcharges could have led to this customer switching to led's besides the snake oil salesman.
  14. Sent a small D/F cabinet using LED's to Jamaica where the electricity is apparently very expensive. It's not as bright as HO lamps but it still gets the job done. Even got 4 lines of changeable copy on there. Powered by one 60W power supply (both sides).
  15. What is the maximum number of items I can purchase with the $0.00 price tags. Or how much are the electrodes?
  16. I'm guessing that's a fire truck with all the uniforms around it. Great old photo though. Power-lines, lack of harness and balls of steel.
  17. Very Nice. Preventative maintenance and TLC. Good Luck.
  18. Try to pay some attention to the kind of basket the truck will have as this will limit your abilities. Basket can fill up quickly especially with a helper, tools, sign parts etc., but the work is "up there".
  19. Welcome to my world. Top that off with ribbon fire and no air conditioning in glass bending area. Glass likes it that way, not me.
  20. I will attach what was sent to me in case it looks familiar to quotes You may be pricing out. I'm sure there are other layouts floating around. My buddy got one this morning wanting 100 banners in Fiji but you must use their shipping company and of course credit cards. Sound familiar. There must be a run on banners this month. Warn your employees before they swipe that exciting sale.
  21. I'm hoping to AVOID somebody in the sign business coming across this type of Bait in a slow economy and swallowing hook line and sinker. I heard stories, but this week I got the same email. Need price for 150, 2'x 5' banners to be picked up at your shop. Must be within 21 days. Do you accept credit cards???? I sent out a fair price quote with some conditions. Next day I get an email thanking me for my prompt reply and accepting the quoted amount. But since he's going out of town for a business trip, he will have his shipping company who he has done business with in the past and prefers to use come by and pick banners up for shipping (Red Flag). Getting complicated but whatever. So contact his shipping guy, get prices to ship "OVERSEAS", since he wants to pay you for banners and shipping all in one neat little bundle for banners going overseas (Red Flag). If you look closely or not closely at the banner artwork you will notice no address, no contact info at all because if you plaster 150 banners all over town everyone would obviously know where to go (Red Flag). Another email reminding me to use his shipper BECAUSE that is how you will lose your money. You will get a credit card number, money will fall all over you, you may even buy your honey a nice gift for a change. You will pay the shipper, credit card company will want money back, shipper gone. Bye-Bye. This happened to a local, lost thousands. They tried me. You might be next.
  22. Erik; I have been involved with some interesting conversations regarding failures, only in a different venue. I am active with canopy retrofits and can tell you there are more premature failures with exterior lighting that most are comfortable to admit to. From an electrical/lighting standpoint, I can agree with you that LED is not the "end all be all" at this point in their evolution. In conjunction with LED canopy lighting retrofits, is fascia sign and channel letter retrofits utilizing LED and there are failures there as well. And to challenge you on "LED's are made to save money", it should read "LED's are made to make money". Lastly, neon is an art that is perfected over time. That's why glass blowing,as it were, is an industrial art. LED is just another business product that relies on the latest cheap shit house factory in China to build and ship that product to the USA. Don't get me wrong, LED's have there place in the scheme of things but nothing quite matches the sheer art form of a well crafted and installed neon sign. But LED is not going away so get used to it..... Best Buy this man a drink. The latest disturbing trend I've seen around town is annoying LED borders. Pray these don't come to your town. Thousands of bright white dots around roof-lines or window frames to say, look here, we know how to turn your head in the most tacky way possible. All you need is a staple gun. I will get photos and post soon.
  23. Lonnie, it's as you said a couple of days ago. "The seller has got to take responsibility for the contract, otherwise the end-user gets burned". Same here in the sunny state.
