slowing down hydraulics on Versalift?

Got my older Tel-24 working great now. But the rotation of the boom is about twice as fast as it needs to be. I know this puts more stress on the gearbox, and it really jerks the operator around.

Does anyone know a way to slow down just one hydraulic component on a system like this? I was thinking of adding an adjustable control valve to the input (or output?) of the hydraulic motor that turns the boom. Would something like this work... or is there an easier way?

All original versalift except for the bucket-to-pedestal wiring... which I replaced. The speed is high whether you activate it via the electric solenoid valves or manually. The rotator is a hydraulic motor. My general understanding of hydraulics is that a lower flow = slower movement?

When you rewired the unit, Did the new wiring have the connection for "High Idle" ( High Speed ). Did you cross wires or hook that up by mistake ?

No such circuit on mine. I have the fasctory wiring diagram and I don't see anything like that. I can slow things down by turning down the idle on the onan generator, but it would be nice to have more control than this. Versalift say a 90 degree rotation should take about 17 seconds, but other than changing the idle there is no mention of adjusting this speed.

I had an old SkyJacker boom that had a manual valve plumbed directly into the main line for the boom up Cylinder. Without it it would slingshot you out of the basket. It also had a stainless steel hose clamp around the handle of it and a pc. of flat bar that was attached to the framework so the valve handle could not tighten or loosen from the vibration of using the unit. I dont see why you couldn't do the same thing with the rotation. It the output of the rotation box is chain drive like my old Versalift you might also be able to change sprocket sizes and adjust the chain to change the gear reduction some.
