Wiring blamed for storefront fire Monday

Firefighters said old wiring from a neon sign that wasn’t properly capped was the cause of a fire that caused about $3,000 in damages Monday.

The fire occurred at 11:38 a.m. at a storefront at Williamsburg Square, 2105 W. Garriott.

Enid Fire Department Capt. Harvey Lenard said there wasn’t any fire damage inside the building and very little, if any, smoke damage inside. Damage was confined to the overhead sign area.

Over time, the wind and movement caused the uncapped wiring to short, Lenard said. EnidNews.com

To me it would mean bare connections. Perhaps they were thinking of it not have a wire nut on it? Maybe the GTO/electrode connection didn't have anything covering it.

Probably didn't have any "silicone sleeves" over the electrodes. (Like that would help anyway) Now a days EVERYBODY gets sued. Being in business is getting kinda scarey. : / LOL..
