GE Lumination Introduces Tetra MAX LED Lighting System for Channel Letter Signage

July 22, 2008... GE Lumination (Lumination), the LED business of GE Consumer & Industrial, has introduced the new Tetra Max LED lighting system for channel letter applications. The company says that it improves efficiency and power supply loading compared with neon and other LED systems in signage channel letter applications. Lumination says that the two LED module red system operates at .99 watts per foot, up to 80 percent energy savings compared with neon and up to 135 percent more loading than other LED systems. The company boasts that its installer-friendly design and performance attributes helped Tetra MAX become the fastest Lumination signage system to reach $1 million in sales.

According to the company, Tetra MAX lights more LEDs from a single power supply than other LED signage systems. Lumination points out that ability to power more LED modules from a single supply reduces the total number of power supplies needed, and lowers costs associated with materials and installation labor. The same power supply is used for all colors and allows up to 54 feet for the two LED module system and 80 feet for the three LED module system. The company says that installation of a Tetra MAX LED system is simplified because the Tetra MAX LED system is comprised of fewer parts than other systems. Lumination notes that the Tetra Max reduces complex wiring and eliminates binning, dip switches, and load balancing through its patent-pending, 12-volt design of Tetra MAX. Additionally, Lumination says the system uses off-the-shelf components such as wire and wire connectors for greater convenience.

GE always writes these things like they are the only ones in the world:

• SloanLED has systems that are 1.2 Watts per linear foot
  
• US LED has systems that are 1.1 Watts per linear foot
  
• Permlight has a system that is 0.8 Watts per linear foot
  
• And yes AXIOM has a product that is 0.6 Watts per linear foot in red - call us if you want to save 3/10th of a watt !!!!
  

How much is this RED LED system per linear foot - anyone know?

I know a few systems that sell in very high volume in RED that is $3.25 per linear foot.

I wasn't going to take any potshots after the little news announcement, but you're right. What caught my eyes, though, was not the items you mentioned - which are your typical talking points that make any LED system sound good - but the following:

Lumination notes that the Tetra Max reduces complex wiring and eliminates binning, dip switches, and load balancing through its patent-pending, 12-volt design of Tetra MAX.

This, too, sounds like they are doing something different than other LED companies, when the fact of the matter is it was only GE who had the stupid dip switches, special wiring tools and load balancing to begin with.

Lumination notes that our wives no longer have to hide their bruises behind their make up or under long sleeve shirts!

A very prominent sign company executive says only GE makes a product with "DIP SHITS" on it for the sign industry.

The comment on the shirt/make up - LMAO
