I wanted to give a big welcome to our newest Board Vendor Greg Smith of MET Laboratories.....

Any custom electrical shop looking to make a switch out of UL should give MET a serious thought.......Right now is the time one should starting thinking about it before January kicks in and you get the new UL annual Invoice for 2011......

There are a lot of changes coming up with UL and the electric sign industry should be glad to see an alternative make a serious effort to come to the forefront......It's good to start seeing some competition in the market for listing electric signs....

Below is some contact information to Greg Smith.....

I know MET is somewhat new to this. We looked into it and like the program. What I could not get from them was a reference from any companies that have switched over. If anyone is using MET currently and could share the experience would be great. PM is fine or call us direct 314-426-2162

Thanks Steve

Thanks Kirstie for the warm welcome!

I just received this testimonial from Brian Terry at Star Signs (Lawrence KS). Brian says:

"We moved to MET Labs because they come across as a very engineering based, common sense organization dedicated to helping us build safer and higher quality products. When we have questions regarding a practice or idea, I can get a prompt response to either email or voicemail. My MET representative is collaborative, professional and consistent which I find valuable for our planning and design. Inconsistencies in the past have always left open the door to surprises regarding the interpretation of UL-48 and related subjects".

Brian can be contacted by e-mail at: BrianT@starsignsllc.com

We'll be posting more testimonials and contacts soon.

Have a great weekend!

Greg

We just got this today from UL...looks like the cost is going up yet again...

September 27, 2010

Dear Customer:

On behalf of Underwriters Laboratories and our 7,000 employees

worldwide, I would like to thank you for your business. During

our 116 years of operation, we have remained committed to

helping customers get their products to market. We are honored

that you trust us to help you achieve your safety, market

access and business goals.

In order to assist you with your planning, I would like to

inform you of the changes to the 2011 fees associated with our

Follow-Up Services program. The 2011 Follow Up Services fees

will generally reflect a 2.9 percent increase. This increase

will apply to all global market access certifications, with a

few variations in selected product categories. These fee

changes will take effect on January 1, 2011, and will apply

to the following services:

* Annual Maintenance - Ongoing maintenance and review of

customer files.

* Factory Inspection - Field representative visits a

customer's manufacturing facility to assess whether UL

certified products meet applicable product safety

requirements.

* Labeling - Application of a UL Mark to a product.

* Sample Testing - Component or end product samples tested

on a periodic basis, as part of our surveillance program.

* Multiple Listing and Alternate Listing - Products

certified for one company are produced for marketing

under the name of another company.

We look forward to continuing to serve you in the future. If

you would like to receive an estimate of your 2011 Follow Up

Services fees or you have any other questions regarding these

fees, please contact us at 877-ULHELPS (877.854.3577, ext. 49499)

or email mailto:cec@us.ul.com. Our customer service

professionals are available to assist you.

Sincerely,

Clyde Kofman
