Where the wind blows with ISA

Which way does this door swing?

ISA's July report Earlier this year it sounded like they were orgasming and applauding all over programs like "Cap & Trade" that this President was trying to push for his backed by his buddies over at GE who's CEO is one of his advisers. A program that would force more regulation on business's and put money in GE

ISA looked like they were at the helm ready to start their own programs for us to better understand what this President's tight grip regulations were over us and business's all over this nation.

Lori was gushing all over the President's appearance at appearance at Gelberg signs - “President Obama and his administration are to be commended for recognizing the vital role played by sign manufacturers in our nation’s economic recovery, as well as for providing them with the tools needed to bring their innovation, creativity and manufacturing expertise to the forefront of the battle to create new jobs in America.”

NOW, here they are in a new position

Regulatory Reform

President Barack Obama recently signed an executive order calling for a government wide review of federal regulations with the aim to remove outdated red tape that stifles job creation and economic growth. ISA supports efforts to help foster a robust and growing domestic manufacturing sector, including the pursuit of a strategy that reduces the regulatory burden on sign companies. That's why ISA is a leading member and an active participant in several small-business-oriented coalitions that work to increase policymakers' understanding of the critical role that manufacturing plays in our economy. ISA will continue to meet and work with key officials in the Environmental Protection Agency, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Department of Transportation and other federal agencies to promote a positive manufacturing agenda with the administration and the 112th Congress.

Where was this hard line position on DE-regulation before on this President who is putting economic killing bills/programs programs like Health Care reform out there against the peoples wishes? Where is the fight in our largest industry leadership? I didn't see their new position in any of the above statements this last year, or did I miss it? All I see is the push for the socialistic "Green" movement that pushes cost UP. Pay more now, and get less in return. These are the worst economic times for as long as I can remember in my short life.

I don't remember reading anything where ISA had a position on U.L.'s new regulations and frivolous changes over existing components that have worked fine for decades just to improve "installer intelligence" that helped kill the Neon sector of our trade? Or did we?

It's self imploding. First for regulation, now de-regulation. Maybe this is why this will be the smallest ISA Vegas show ever. They claim to be full or so I'm told, but that's because they have less space, so I'm told. Not many are even going to attend this year like the last Vegas show.

Don't forget should you attend any of their events where cocktails/drinks are served, you won't get a napkin with it, unless you ask for one (this is their way of being green and saving carbon footprints). Not sure know if the same rule applies if you use the restroom and need toilet paper, you may have to ask an attendant. This is the only real ROI for being "green" I know of, it's doing without.

Maybe they just like him no matter what he does or says.

Or maybe the case is being over stated in both directions to make the whole Obama/ISA thing seem like a bigger deal than it really is?

It's really no big deal on the grand scope other than to show how contradictory ISA can be/is, or which way they swing in the political atmosphere. ISA does good for our industry, and some bad, more the initial. But for god sakes, stay consistent and truthful, or don't report it on your website blog at all.

Just my opinion, as a "free" fellow American.
