Ditto on the brake (up to 1/8in).

I still prefer acrylic (1/4in-3/8) for most window signs.  Stiffer than polycarbonate and seems to age a bit better too.  You can use solid square or round stock (I use 1in solid rod) for the standoffs.

Always use sides for the window signs as this helps prevent warping,1.jpg protects neon during shipping and allows you to mount 3 hole brackets on top corners for chain and leveling.  This is BEST way to level signs in the window.  Of course do not use plastic tube supports unless you want the neon units to fall off the background down the road or be written up in certain municipalities.

Agree completely on not using plastic tube supports.  I don't use them on anything these days - not even the smallest window sign.  The neon has a 10 year life and the plastic tube supports a 3-5 year life.  There is always trouble down the road.  Sometimes the plastic disintegrates in only a couple of years.  Acrylic or Polycarb - UL listed or not.  all have this problem.  I think the ozone produced near the tube surface breaks down the plastic.  Throw in some direct sunlight and you really have trouble.

I really like the silicone-dipped glass tube supports both FMS and others sell now.

Actually some where it can be exist that you need to be care full about neon tubes. No meter what materials (Plastic, Acrylic, or glass) they have used in that sign. so keep clean your neon signs.

Marina Mark, what the hell are you talking about?  I'm going to have to get Tim Kaine to translate that for me.

Are you saying keep your neon signs clean, no mater what background you use?

Mad Scientist

Neon signs can be as simple as a small business of shop advertisement signs or it's complexity  matching to the new York Horror stories. Neon signs are made by glass tubes that having gas and bent material in the shape of decorative design. although gas was originally used in that signs. when high voltage current is passed through the gas, the glass tube emit lights. many different other glass are also used with 50 brilliant colors.  So obviously you can use quality glass material in your neon sign. But its important to take care of signs and if you don't care your signs they will loos their image and quality, because customer like to read eye-catching signs

I'd like to make a HUGE Announcement that we have brought in a large quantity of REAL U.L. Neon Glass Housings for all your Neon Sign & Lighting Projects, and will have these on hand on a regular basis.

As most of you may or may not know, there has been a huge shortage of the availability of Glass Neon Housings for Neon....and what has been available has been a lot of Chinese Fake UL Marked (Embossed on the glass) Neon Housings in the market for some time.

They Claim a UL mark, BUT...they aren't listed.     .i.e. SSI Glass Housings have no valid listing with fake embossed UL Emblem

The biggest complaint for some time has been the threads are terrible and it made tightening at times near to impossible.  The other bad aspect was that the glass walls were too thin, and with just a little bit of heat they were cracking or a incidental drop bump might cause them to crack and break prematurely.

      NOW IN STOCK - Westrim U.L. Listed #100, #200, #200P, #300 Neon Glass Housings

Also, it's bad news if you're a Wholesale Shop or Custom Sign Shop integrating these knock-offs into your signs.  It's passing along a fake listed product and should something happen like a "fire" I can't imagine Insurance Companies will be too happy about the use of a "knock-off"

I've done my best in the past to look for and supply vintage housings that were listed for the Neon Community and help with keeping that art going with Porcelain or older glass housings which we still do have plenty of (#100's & #300's).  But now we'll be able to bring in those hard to get components to keep those awesome Neon Open Faced Channel Letters and Wall Signs going without running into shortages of components or options.

You can Purchase these from our store or contact us to place an order or inquiry (858) 880-1400  |  orders@thesignsyndicate.com
