Permlight Appoints William Hamm as Vice President, North American Sales for Permlight for Signs™

TUSTIN, Calif., Nov 17, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Permlight for Signs™, a leading provider of brilliant LED lighting for signs, today announced William "Bill" Hamm has been named vice president of North American sales. Hamm will be responsible for managing all aspects of Permlight for Signs sales, including managing and enhancing relationships with existing customers and establishing new partnerships with distributors, sign companies and major retail accounts.

Hamm joins Permlight for Signs from FRANCE, a division of the Scott Fetzer Company and a manufacturer of neon transformers and ballasts for the sign industry, where he served as director of sales and marketing and vice president of new product development. Prior to FRANCE, Hamm was president of ZAPI, Inc., a manufacturer of electronic speed controllers and associated products for battery-powered vehicles.

Hamm holds a bachelor of science degree in aerospace engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of the International Sign Association (ISA), World Sign Associates (WSA), Mid South Sign Association, Canadian Sign Association, and the United States Sign Council. Hamm resides in Nashville, Tenn., with his family.

That is great news for them. Didnt know Bill Hamm was from Zapi - I remember this company - they made some great electric scooters. This company never really took off and it should have - poor management if I remember correctly.

It would be great if their new sign executive would jump on this message board and grace us with their presence. Sounds like they are really serious about the sign industry so we should see this - shouldnt we???

The news they didnt report was:

1. One of their head engineers James Steedley has left the company

2. Head customer service person, Jackie, has left the company

Also heard that their production volumes are 1/10th of what they use to do and that most of their time is spent cuttin out CHASE letter backs and populating them with LEDs to replace the ones that failed.

On another note I heard that SloanLED sales has also dropped.
