DURHAM, N.C. – ShopBot Tools is proud to announce its 10th anniversary.

Founded on Feb. 1, 1996, the company has grown from two to 30 employees and has increased its tool offerings from an enthusiast’s introductory computer numerically controlled (CNC) to the highest performance-affordable CNC production tool. During this time, affordable ShopBots have become one of the largest selling CNC routers. Almost 4,000 are productively working away in small shops and larger production facilities across the United States and around the world. They are used for all sorts of woodworking and cabinetmaking, prototyping, sign making, and are involved in a range of production operations from producing stealth fighters to manufacturing hi-tech housing.

“I’m really proud to see the development of our products, our employees and our company as a whole over the past 10 years,” said Ted Hall, founder and CEO of the Durham, N.C.-based company. “It’s amazing the way a group of involved and committed people can turn an idea into a reality.

The company has achieved numerous honors since its inception, including the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Achievement Certificate for Accomplishments in the Global Marketplace. Most recently, a ShopBot PRTalpha 96 computer numerically controlled (CNC) router appeared on the popular ABC television show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, hosted by Ty Pennington, and the company’s PRTalpha Benchtop router was featured on the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Network’s show Tools and Techniques, hosted by Popular Woodworking Magazine Editor David Thiel.
